Meeting Lou Mongello

Today, I met one of my biggest idols ever, who I consider to be the king of Disney himself, Lou Mongello.

This morning, we were at the Frozen summer event at Hollywood Studios. My mom instagrammed a picture using the special Olaf hashtag. Right after she posted the picture, we clicked on the hashtag and saw that Lou had posted a picture from the ice skating rink where we were, just 1 minute ago. Naturally, I freaked out. We looked around, but didn't see him in the building. It was time for Megan and I to start skating, so we went onto the rink.

After only a couple laps around, I look over at where my mom was standing, and she had found Lou! I went over there and I was completely starstruck!

Let me explain. Lou is the host of WDW Radio, an incredible Disney podcast that features Disney trivia, history, interviews, Top 10 lists, restaurant reviews, and more. He is also the author of many wonderful Disney books and audio guides, as well as speaking at conventions and events, and so much more. I have been listening to the WDW Radio podcasts for as long as I can remember. Every time I drive to and from college, I line up some episodes to listen to in the car. I remember getting his first trivia book, back when it came out in 2003, when I was only 9. Needless to say, I am a huge fan of Lou and the wonderful work that he does for the Disney community.

Getting to finally meet Lou in person and talk with him today was incredible. Lou's passion for Disney is unbelievable and I am so glad that he shares it with everyone. Walt's spirit really lives on in Lou. Even as a 9 year old, I was researching Disney and wanting to know as much as I could about this wonderful place. Finding Lou's books and podcasts showed me way back then how to embrace my love for Disney and how much there is to really enjoy, appreciate, and realize about everything that Walt Disney World has to offer.

I am so glad I got the chance to meet Lou today. If you want to listen to episodes of the WDW Radio Show or check out any of Lou's books, projects, or events, visit http://www.wdwradio.com.

  1. My husband idolizes that man. We got to meet him at a special e-ticket even back in October 2013. He looks forward to his live shows on Wednesdays. It was so awesome to meet him and we hope to again some day!
